Painted front door, new French door, preparing for new windows & Autumn!

What a transformation
The house is looking so different from the front these days.  Here is a reminder of how it used to look pre-renovation.  (Photo courtesy Google Maps)

Here is the current street view.  I spent a couple of days recently doing another white undercoat on the verandah balustrades.  Really love the white.

Painted front door
The new (old) front door has now been painted black with its silver hardware.

I have ordered a planter pot like this one (which I will paint black) which will go to the left of the front door, under the light.

New French door
Another French door has been installed in the living room on the front of the house - to replace the former timber door and screen door.

Before.

After.

Preparing for new front window
One of the next projects is to replace the existing aluminium window on the western (front) side of the house with a timber double-hung window that is currently inside the house on the wall that separates the guest bedroom and laundry.  Dad has also repurposed some old windows into timber glass panels which will sit on either side of the window in its new location... sustainability, repurposing and doing justice to beautiful old things (not to mention cost effective).

Here is the double-hung window in its current location...

Here are the side panels which Dad has built/repurposed. Just love them.

Autumn is here!
Autumn has definitely arrived (and Winter seems to be on its way early!)  The Autumn leaves are exquisite.  Hopefully they will hang around for a bit longer before disappearing altogether!

The roses have loved the recent rain and the colour seems to be more vivid than ever!

I had the front bushes trimmed recently - my aim is to form a fairly low neat hedge. I have planted a couple of Murrayas to fill the gaps.

I have also planted Star Jasmine in pots on the new verandah and they seem to be loving their new spot.  I had been eyeing off these pots for ages and really love their greenish/antique finish.

Lots of projects on the go!
There are lots of projects on the go at the moment in Dad's shed - lots of 'cleverness' happens here!

These three window panels will be used on the southern end of the front verandah - where the new walk-in robe will be built.  There will also be another identical panel installed just near this one.

These six old windows were salvaged from the former back flat - they divided the former kitchen from the living area.
