Front steps, verandah gates & laundry deck complete... New master bedroom starts

New front steps and verandah gates
So much progress has happened since my last post. I had a fantastic holiday in Europe over June/July and saw so many beautiful places. It's also really great to be home again now.

Dad has been very busy finishing off the new front steps and landing, as well as designing and building a new verandah gate. The house really has transformed enormously.

It's hard to visualise how things looked before the reno started. Here is a reminder (courtesy Google Maps)...

Below are the new steps and pair of gates.  Dad built the gates from a pair of old doors that used to be part of my Grandparents' house in Kingaroy. The frame is original, and the detail within the frame has been custom-designed and built by Dad. Just beautiful...

I love the shadows that the sun casts every afternoon.

The beautiful black and silver gate hardware has been recycled from other areas of the house where it was no longer needed. Every detail has a story to tell...

Here are the steps and landing being built...

I have planted agapanthus under the new steps which should thicken up and add more greenery in front of the house battens.

Laundry deck
Dad has also now finished the new deck on the southern side of the house, outside the laundry.  Here is a reminder of how the southern side of the house looked pre-reno.

Laundry framed up...

Here is the new exterior door to the laundry, looking eastwards from (what is now) the new deck.

The new laundry is now complete and is such a practical room. We have kept the décor fresh and light - with off-white square floor tiles, white rectangular wall tiles, light timber benchtop and white VJ walls.

New Master bedroom
Dad has also now started working on the new master bedroom which will be located on the south-western corner of the house (where the former bathroom and laundry of the front flat was situated).  The wall along the southern side of the house will be extended to allow for this new bedroom, walk-in-robe and ensuite.

Here is the former laundry with the bathroom located to the right-hand side.

We have started removing the walls and framing up for the new set of French doors that will be installed on the front western wall of the bedroom.

Here is the room looking from the south-western corner. You can see where the new French doors will be installed along the verandah wall. The wall on the right-hand side of this photo will be removed and extended out to add more space.

The below photo is taken looking east, along the southern side of the house.  You can see the new laundry and deck extension, and the rest of the wall will be removed and extended out to meet the edge of the new deck.

This photo gives you an idea of how the French doors will change the overall look of the front of the house (to the right of the front door). Much more glass and light.

You can already tell it is going to be such a bright and sun-filled room...

View of my backyard taken early one morning...  such a beautiful view to wake up to.
