Below you can see the 'cross' panelling detail which Dad has added to the front of the bedroom.
Here is the front verandah looking towards the north.
The front verandah now seems so much larger, with the extension on the end. This photo was taken at the northern end of the verandah, looking south towards the new bedroom.
Here is the interior of the new bedroom, looking through the new French doors. You can see the bedhead panelling which Dad has built on the far wall.
Here you can see more of the bedroom, where the walk-in-robe will be located, and looking through the doorway towards (what will be) the new ensuite.
This is the large window which sits on the southern side of the ensuite, looking out towards greenery. The window was recycled from a former job.
The below photo was taken of the front corner of the new main bedroom, with the beautiful old Macadamia tree framing the house.
Below you can see the new southern side of the house, with the ensuite extension just beyond the water tank, and the new laundry in the background (with a new deck between the two).
The photo below gives a better indication of where the new ensuite will be located, relative to the new laundry and southern deck. The blue sisalation paper is part of the ensuite wall (which is yet to be fully built in).
There will be a tall glass panel on the eastern side of the ensuite, facing this deck - built from old glass louvre blades that came from the former kitchen of the front flat. Here is the new window below, ready to be installed once the wall is in place.
Stunning sunsets!
How beautiful have the sunsets been lately! These photos were taken the other afternoon after a 40 degree day. The light was just beautiful.
Planning new front gates
We are currently planning two new gates for the front fence - an automatic sliding driveway gate, plus a pedestrian gate next to the letterboxbox. Dad is going to repurpose some of the old iron-work from the former front flat to build the gates. They will be powdercoated black to tie in with the letterbox and contrast with the white fence. Below is a sneak peek of some of the iron-work which will be used. I love it that so much of this home tells a story of the past, and pays homage to eras (and people) gone by.
